wanted to do a "putting the face on and finishing it" sort of lineup for
tiewolf
so here we go!
1. Sewn together fur pattern for just the face (and also the white of the neck/chest fur. (here we see it from the inside!
2. fur pattern placed on the blank
3. Shaved around the eyes and edges of the fur before gluing on.
4. Glued the fur onto the blank as best as I could. trimmed any excess fur around the mouth area!
5. Shaved the face down with the smallest shaver attachment.
6. Shaved the face again with no attachment on the blade!
7. Added black paint details, around eyes, lips, nose.
8. Added a few more black paint details.
9. Added black/blue shading details on areas of the mask.
10. Final details, a little more shading around the nose and the black spot details in the fur! Also black horse hair whiskers! :)
:)
Glue used- Hot glue High temp.
Painting- Acrylic paint and a few sizes of stiff brush. Also rags and a bit of water to smooth out the paint into the fur. also to leave for less ugly clumping with the paint and fur :)
Shaver used- Wahl pet clipper. (SO AWESOME) I just got this one on sale at Ross. It's a self sharpening shaver. I have never used such a nice shaver ever. <3

This is actually very helpful, and will help me when it comes time to fur Nicole ^^ though I think I might do the tape pattern technique, since she's all black. But I may just sew it, bahh, I don't know. I can look through different techniques while deciding, although sewing seems to be a popular technique with heads that have alot of different markings and color. airbrushing too, but I don't have an airbrush D: I have however used rags and the like and that seemed to work well. My main concern is tucking in the seams as well as you do D: I'll just have to be very careful! ^^
oh this pattern was made with a half tape pattern! I duct taped half of the face and then just reversed it when I was cutting out the fur! :) making even markings (the white dots mostly lol)
It's always best to sew together all pieces ^_^ and when you make the duct tape pattern open the mouth as wide as you'd like it to be able to open! and then when you add the duct tape on there for the fur pattern, the excess will just fold into the mask when it's closed :3

Hm, okay! So let me get this straight, When taping up the head, I should open the mouth to as wide as I'd like it to open (as far as my jaw will allow xD) and then I should tape across the gap between the top of the jaw and the bottom? Then when the jaw closes, there's excess fur. Is there something I should do with that excess, or just leave it be? XD I feel like it would look like loose skin around the sides D:
Actually, now that I'm watching the testerfox video again, I think I see what you mean :O

yes! you tape the gap! and the excess folds inside the mouth! :) it's kind of inevitable in these masks Xb I tried not having that happen because I didn't like the idea of the fur flaps but it just doesn't work otherwise :c
the mouth doesn't need to open that wide either so there wouldn't be a whole ton of excess fur :)

ah, okay :D I'll remember to make the mouth open reasonably so there's not too much excess! Thank you so much for all the help, I won't shame the base, haha xD
quick question! The elastic for around the head does come with it correct? :D I was worried about finding stuff of proper thickness if it didn't D: alot of stuff is out of my reach right now because of my move out of the country >.>
