Artorias of the Abyss.
Awyeah. Love me some Dark Souls.
Okay it's like one of my most favorite games ever.

Just pretend that Artorias and the player character have fur under their armor.

His introduction scene was amazing, especially because there was kinda all this buildup already if you played the game before the DLC/PC Edition came out and had all this contact with the myth of Artorias and his items and then meeting and fighting him was indeed kinda special for me xD
This is an immaculate painting study - if you were apparently free from any impediment of perfectionism, then your drawing skills have a dexterity check that goes off the scale. The abundance of cool colors and this dark energy is hauntingly beautiful. You deserve something like four rare rings of sacrifice in a one second sitting, no soul exchange.
Well, "All the graphic artifacts are redone" is not the right choice of words, there are none because painting does not produce graphic artifacts in that sense unless you work on a tiny file xD
Just to be clear, this is not painted over the screenshot - this is painted from scratch, using the screenshot as a reference for the composition, pose, and lighting of the scene. I also picked no colors from the screenshot and instead guessed and mixed them by eye, which is why the result has some variation in palette and lighting, especially in the background. My goal was to capture the scene and "action" in it as a whole while still keeping it detailled, so I took more liberties on the background and kept it unsharp and also introduced a little light variance that imo makes the characters pop more.
Just saying, in case there was some confusion. The way you worded it just sounds a little like I did a photo/screen-manipulation-based thing there.
Also, thank you =)

Nah wasn't saying you edited it. Was saying you improved upon the original by removing the artifacts. Many aspects of Artorias etc where jagged due to polygon restrictions, aswell as his armor comming out allot cleaner and more readable in your version.
If games could acheive a painted art-style of this quality I'de never put them down

Came for the silly comic. Stayed for the "omaigawdlookittheseneatpics" gallery.
Dark Souls, despite being one of my most favorite games in such a long, could of used a little bit more light in its lighting as I felt that the darker atmosphere in certain areas sort of obstructed some of Dark Souls really nice graphical set pieces and the details of armors and weapons (Yeah it's called DARK Souls but after playing the game like 300 times a little bit brighter lighting would of been nice change on replays. XD) With that said, I appreciate this image for not only it being rather well done but also because your own artistic liberties compliment Dark Souls' visual design in my own honest opinion. The textures on the clothing, the details on the armor, the very restored look of Artorias' armor and Sword (though that's compared to the screenshot), the dynamic presence of both Artorias' darkness seeping from his body and the atmosphere around the battle itself looking oh so heavy and eye-pleasing...really, what else can I say? Everything is subdued enough and yet the parts that need to pop out to the viewer do so very well. It's been such a long time that I could actually comment on an image without critiquing it in some way but since I've drone on long enough and I just want to say, "This is purdy~"
