As I recall, this was both a test and a random idea. For some reason, one night I wanted to try drawing chikorita in this kind of style - I guess I was just in the mood for a semi-realistic pokemon then.

The test part of it came from how I colored it. Instead of leaving the airbrush on "normal" like I usually would when coloring, I set it to "dissolve", and then blurred whatever I colored. It didn't give me quite the effect I was looking for, but I still like it nonetheless.

And for some nice irony, those are chicory flowers in its mouth. :)
