ASA! Just found it here on FA...Again, we've spoken at length through email...but I would love to comment, once again, on how wonderful this turned out! I am SO PROUD of you! It would be nice if the viewing public knew something about the inspiration for this piece...
A few months ago, my preacher Kent Mattox at Word Alive International Outreach (www.waio.org) did a series of sermons called "Vintage Jesus" - they used a lot of wine and vine dressing terms...the basis was this...we get "pruned" or "cut back" so to speak, so that we can grow stronger and bear MORE FRUIT for God! the Fruit of the Spirit...it was 5 or 6 sessions, so there was a LOT more to it than just that...but that is one of the big "take away" concepts of the sermon series. I am sure we have it for you to see on line, if you're interested! It was excellent!.... anyway...during one of the sermons, Kent made a comment about he would "rather be an ASS for Jesus, than be the guy who has it all together for the World"... and of course, me being a furry...inspiration and the Holy Spirit STRUCK! and BAM, I contacted Asa with the idea you see as a completed artwork here!

Funny thing...Just two Sundays ago, Kent made the comment..."I want to be 100%, totally, SOLD OUT to Jesus!"...most would say..well, "of course!" you're a big time preacher in a big church...you must be sold out already!" but no....he realizes there are plenty of areas in his life/heart that need to be given over to God more fully. And he admitted that due to his "Encourager" personality type (loves to worship, encourage and be at the center of "what's going on"), he has a bit of a problem with "humility" !!! What??? Praise GOD! Here I am with this art piece, so masterfully crafted by Asa Hane, to help him with that very thing! HAAHA... God is amazing and works in amazing and strange ways!

So, yeah, now you understand a little better what this piece is all about...oh, and trust me, Kent will "get it"...he's sharp enough (and humble enough) to understand that what I have done here in no insult, but actually a beautiful thing that he will cherish for years to come...he's cool like that...unlike any preacher I have ever known...
