Long ago, Scorchblast was known as one of the Autobots taking refuge on many colonies established after the fall of Cybertron. Studying under Bladewing, he strived to become the greatest warrior ever known-the most FEARED warrior, even. His determination was so great, he was even willing to tangle with-and kill-his fellow Autobots, if necessary. His ferocious, savage nature had to be kept in check by Bladewing, but her attempts to calm him down were perceived by Scorchblast as attempts to make sure he never fullfills his quest. Situation only worsened with his constant conflicts with another student of Bladewing, Wingbomber, who soon became equal to Scorchblast in terms of skill and strength. After one conflict where he nearly killed a fellow Autobot who argued with him over a trivial matter, Bladewing had no other choice but to banish him. However, Scorchblast didn't leave without having one more confrontation with Wingbomber, and threatening that he will one day return to put all of their heads on pikes. After some time spent wandering around, Scorchblast was intercepted by the Decepticons, who Scorchblast perceived as a chance to fullfill his destiny. Swearing his loyalty to Megatron, he decided to lead the Cons to the Autobot colony that banished him, however, Bladewing and her followers anticipated this, successfully chasing away the invading forces. Despite his failure, Scorchblast was allowed to stay with the Decepticons, serving as agent travelling among the stars and seeking out and terminating any surviving Autobots, gaining more and more skills over time...

...Then one day, he received transmission which confirmed that his former comrade, Wingbomber, is on planet Earth. Determined to settle the score with him once and for all, and hoping that Wingbomber's death will draw his old mentor to him, Scorchblast immediately sets out on a journey to this small planet. Much like Megatron, he refuses to take an Earth-based alt form, considering it below him to scan a vehicle belonging to an inferior race. While on Earth, he often clashes with his now arch-nemesis, but each fight ends with a draw one way or the other, much to his frustration. Finding out that Wingbomber seems to have some sort of relationship with a Decepticon deserter, Weakpurr, he sees it as opportunity to kill two birds with one stone: terminate the deserter as per Megatron's orders, and hurt the Bot he hates most by doing it in the most twisted, tormenting way possible.
