Painted Wolf Sketchbook.
Yet another painted sketchbook! This one was not a commission custom, but one I made to sell at Anthrocon, alongside the fox sketchbook. They are A4 Canson sketchbooks with a magnetic latch, painted with acrylics and sealed with Krylon clearcoat. I will be selling both for $75. If you are in love with either, they are one-of-a-kind, so grab fast.
This was my favorite book to paint so far, though somewhat inevitably as it was a rather self-indulgent choice of image. In my dreams as a kid and in various attempts I have made to meditate, I have often seen a black wolf with golden eyes and a white/graying muzzle, so this particular coloration means a lot to me. In general I also love the warm reddish brown coat some black pelted wolves wind up with in the summer. So beautiful and rich. Another interesting fact: black phase grey wolves did not exist until after humans domesticated the dog. The genetic trait that codes for black fur in wolves is thought to be introduced because of occasional breeding back to dogs. So in a way, a black wolf is a symbol of that which could not stay tamed. <3
