While I was freak out over my feathers falling out http://www.furaffinity.net/view/10907702/ and upcoming exams, Carousel was busy planting our garden in my Equestria dreamscape.
She’d spent all winter reading about the subject and with my help we’d succeeded in getting the Steedebaker Garden Helper plow ready for spring planting.
At this point I’d like say a couple things.
One, I have not made any serious study of plows or farm equipment in general. This is just what my subconscious came up with, so there may be some big design flaws to it.
Two, when I do sketches from my dreams I often do not attempt to consciously correct any problems that may exist in the design. The point of this exercise is to remember what happened in the dream; I am not doing concept design.
The Garden Helper is designed so one pony can perform all the steps necessary for plowing a small family truck farm or a large garden. Fortunately the fine ponies at the Steedebaker plant in Detrot were kind enough to send us a new owners manual so we could get it up and running with some advice from Applejack.
The biggest problem we had was that the harness and tack were unusable. Fortunately with Rarity’s assistance Carousel had a brand new harness of black leather and brass before Winter Wrap up.
Carousel was so excited to see results of her labors and to finally get a chance to really use her earth pony talent to grow a garden. For the next few days after planting she was constantly going out and checking on the status of the garden. Then one morning she finally could see the first green shoots bursting up through the soft moist soil. She was so excited she ran back inside and brought us out to see them ourselves. She was as excited as a mother watching their foals perform in some school pageant. Applejack would be so proud of her!
To be continued.

We've got tomatoes, along with corn, onions, carrots, string beans, and potatoes. We've also planted an herb garden in pots that we can bring during the winter. Hopefully by the end of the year we'll have chives, thyme, rosemary, basil, sage, parsley and small bay tree growing.
We've also discovered a couple feral black plum trees on our property that we are hoping to coax a few bushels of plums out of this summer, and short walk down to a small crick has led to the discovery of wild blackberries. That might explain the old berry pail we found in the attic of our cottage.

It might. I also think that my own dreaming has touched on yours.

So yea, you hear strange digging under your house.. pay her no mind.

There are little push plows and planters for garden in real life.

Well remember that before Studebaker starting making automobiles they were a wagon and carriage manufacturer. My dad was a big Studebaker fan and he had magazines showing old ads for their horse-drawn vehicles. Now I don't know if they ever made farm equipment but I don't imagine it would be impossible for them.
Well if you exclude locomotives, airships, and steam powered ships then not really. Remember my subconscious is hewing much closer to Lauren Faust's idea that Equestria was about late 19th Century in technology. There are early versions of motor vehicles being explored but at the moment they are very much in their infancy and are primarily being experimented for heavy commercial applications. Also Equestria's road system while in pretty good condition is designed for hoof traffic at the moment.
However except for long distances most ponies appear to be content to get by on hoofs or wings.

Just as a thought...the wagons pulled by the Budwiser teams are Studebakers. The wildest shots were in the x-mas commercials where they took the wheels off and substituted big skis. That was one ad where they really lit the team move out at a good pace. Strutten' their stuff. Beautiful WCJ
Heh, that mirrors my experience with farm equipment fairly well. At first they seem impenetrable, but once you get used to them, you find that they are generally very intuitively designed and the only problem comes from you second-guessing yourself. There's wonderful simplicity in a system that really only has three gears: fast, slow and reverse, indicated by a hare, a tortoise and an "R" respectively...
