Seal of the Department of Education
After doing Mariana Francisca, I wanted to show what one of those abstract personifications looked like. After working on it since february, on May 29, 2013, while waiting for a pizza (something I never do), I finished, under the watchful eye of a seven-year-old girl.
I wanted to make sure I didn't miss a detail, so I progressed slowly (which is just as well; the little girl had been bouncing off the walls until she started watching). I also wanted to make sure there was no question that it was a typical nineteenth-century school teacher. So, while I don't usually think of it, I gave him a pointing stick (if anyone knows what they really are called, I would much appreciate it) and a bow tie
