This is one of lots of my characters that were created during my RP sessions with ArthaAmberose, my dear friend and amazing artist.

Layla is a halfbreed, born to a female of race strong in psionic skills and sired by a male of higly magical race. These two races were two sworn enemies and Layla's conception wasn't anything nice for her mother. She endured the difficulties of unexpected and unwanted pregnancy, realizing that her child might will gain unseen powers...and could become her weapon and a mean to gain more power and her respect back.

As the time passed by, Layla was born...and thanks to her origins...she gained more power, than even her mother dared to hope - two psionic skills, the first very rare among her kind...and the second entirely new one. The first one, called the Imprinter's gift allowed Layla to gain any skill others possessed, just by touching them, while the other gave her complete imunity against magic...and - what noone knew - made her resistent even to divine power.

And so Layla grew up, carefully trained and taught, but never really loved and accepted. her first copied talent was passive and complete regeneration skill...which she sorely needed should she survive her training. The thing was...all the members of the psionic race paid vith vital energy for active use of their talents.
As she matured she gained skills like telepathy and empathy...and finally realized what she suspected for a long time. She became bitter, knowing that if she tries to escape - she would be caught and loose her skills...and so she did what she was ordered, hating it with all her being.

She was forced to kill without mercy, sparing noone, not even children. She was also forced to endure breeding tries - never becoming pregnant, which she was grateful for.

As she grew older, the war between the psionic race and magic users became so terrible and destructive, that it amaged her homeworld to the point that the local gods decided to destroy it. Before they did it, her hometown was attacked ...
Layla was at that time tired of almost constant carnage and bloodshed. All she wanted was to be free and have a peaceful place to live, being treated as a sentient being with heart and soul.
Still she joined the deffenders. Her hometown had a big matrix crystal in it's center. This crystal sustained of a substance that was able to accumulate psionic energy and eased the psionic users the work with their talents. During the fight this crystal got drained beyond the critical point. Layla saw it cracking into pieces and knew, there would be terrible explosion, that could kill even her.
She cursed her life and desperately wished to be somewhere else, somewhere peaceful and quiet...and her desperate wish, while she was that close to matrix crystal caused, that she instinctively leapt away from the doom...ending up in the palace of the primordial God of Peace, Maitreya.
