When you stop and think about it, the Mario Brothers games are some deeply disturbing shit. Anthropomorphic mushrooms! Cannibalistic fire breathing vine monsters that live in the pipes! A world where the loose ends of all our plumbing systems make up the geography! Murderous spined turtle/dinosaurs out for world domination! Crazy shit.

For some reason, I decided to draw it. Or rather, this. Then, after I'd completed it and had time to think about it, I also realized just how -dark- the whole thing could be too. Thus was born the Dark Mushroom Remix. This picture, while the progenitor of the whole project, doesn't quite fit with everything that came after, so I consider it to be part 1 of 1 of the Trance Mushroom Remix, offered here because Toad's hung like a horse.
