Pyramid Head was an executioner that punished people for real or imagined crimes. He was slow, lumbering, and quite creepy, brandishing either his greatknife, or a spear (After you acquire the knife for yourself). Many people who played Silent Hill 2 believe that PH was a representation of James' superego, being one of the only masculine enemies in a game fairly well dominated by curvier, more feminine monsters. Pyramid Head was after James, and pretty much anyone he was with at the time. In the end, James only defeated PH by accepting the wrongs he had done (and summarily repressed) in the past.

And as far as I can tell he's the only foe that I've ever fought in a game that is completely 100% invulnerable. He only leaves because he gets bored of you shooting him and moving around too much.

Well, Silent Hill 1 is for the PS, 2, 3, and 4 are for the PS2.

1, 2, and 3 are worth your time for sure, butdon't get 4 unless you become a serious fan/collector. It's not as great.

hm ok i really wasnt planning on getting the game but learn the story thats all i dont play video games like i used to lol 24/7 was how i used to play.

It's a half told story. Nobody has ever said 'okay, silent hill is THIS'. It's from different angles. There IS a cult, mind you, and it plays strongly into 1 and 3, but 2 had no cult at all, suggesting that as well as the cult, there was some sinister, elemental force infecting the town that just screws with people at it's leisure.... some also say it's there to punish the guilty.

So far, silent hill is:

1. An Indian burial ground
2. A Civil War prison camp
3. A tourist attraction
4. The site of a misguided cult (2, even, I think.)
5. The site of a drug ring (cult sells it to tourists)

Frankly, Silent Hill is just a fucked up, foggy-ass place with a LOT of overlapping evil in it. But I love the games so much!

It is. I remember returning to a little room that was fairly empty earlier in the game, when I came back, there was graffiti on the wall in huge letters that said "GOOD PEOPLE GO TO HEAVEN JAMES BUT THAT'S NOT WHERE YOU'RE GOING" or something like that. Creepy shit.
