The lights in the room were now out, and the room was now only lit by the moonlight through the window in Ayu's bedroom. The charging cradle on Ayu's bedside table however was empty.
Arnval was sitting up in the bedroom window, simply looking out at the moon.
Stirring in her sleep, Ayu accidentally rolled off of her bed with thud, catching the attention of her Shinki. Hopping over from the window onto the bedside table, Arnval went to check of Ayu, who was just finishing digging herself out from her blankets and sheets that fell off with her.
“Are you alright Ayu?” Arnval asked.
Ayu nodded and reached for her glasses.
“Yeah, I'm okay. I kind of tend to roll out of bed sometimes accidentally sometimes is all” Ayu said, laughing a bit.
“How come you're still up though? Are you having trouble sleeping?” she proceeded to ask as she got up to collect her blankets and sheets.
Arnval nodded her head.
“I'm having trouble going to sleep. I know I need to sleep and recharge, but I can't stop thinking about the things I saw in my head earlier” she said, looking back over to the moon.
“I see. Do you want to talk about any of it?” Ayu asked.
Arnval shook her head.
“No, I don't want to keep you from getting your rest” she said.
Ayu smiled and shook her head.
“Don't be silly. It'll be a lot harder for me to get back to sleep knowing that you have something bothering you. Now come on. Talking about it might help you feel a bit better” she said, holding her open hand onto the tabletop.
After a moment, Arnval finally nodded and stepped into Ayu's hand. Ayu then took the rolling chair from her desk and moved it next to the window. After sitting down, Ayu helped Arnval onto the window.
Both girls simply sat and looked out silently at the moon for a minute before Ayu broke the silence.
“The moon is beautiful tonight, isn't it?” Ayu said, smiling.
Arnval nodded.
“It is. Looking at it makes me feel very peaceful” Arnval said.
“It does for me too. That's one of the reasons I'm so glad that this room is my room” Ayu said.
“The moon?” Arnval asked, looking to Ayu.
Ayu nodded.
“Yeah. I often tend to look out at the moon and stars at night when something is bothering me and I need a way to relax and clear my head a bit. And since I get such a great view of the moon from my window at night, it's perfect for me” Ayu said, smiling at Arnval.
Looking at Ayu's face, Arnval could feel herself calming down more and smiled back at her before looking out the window again.
“Ayu?” she said.
“Yeah?” Ayu replied.
“You had to replace my old CSC when you fixed me because of how much damage it took, right?” Arnval asked.
Ayu nodded.
“Yeah. Whatever inflicted the damage it took dealt enough to render it irreparable. Even if it could have been repaired, it would have needed to be removed to do that, and that would cause you to reset yourself once you were reactivated” she said.
“So I was going to lose my memories either way?” Arnval asked.
“Yeah. With the damage your CSC took, even with all the other repairs I did on you, trying to activate you would've been very dangerous, and likely resulted in destroying it or even worse, you. The only safe alternative was to replace it with a new one” Ayu answered.
“I know. It's just... I've been thinking about those things that I was seeing, and... I've been wondering if they might be memories. But that couldn't be possible. My previous memories were lost with my previous CSC, but what else is there?” Arnval said, looking up at Ayu.
Sighing, Ayu leaned back a bit in her chair.
“Ayu?” Arnval said.
Taking a moment to think, Ayu spoke.
“You are right. You shouldn't have any of the memories from your previous CSC, and in all my years around Shinkis, I've never heard of it happening before. But...” Ayu began.
“But what?” Arnval asked, somewhat worried.
“But I'm not going to say it didn't happen or that it's impossible. I really don't think what happened earlier was some random malfunction” Ayu continued, looking back down to Arnval again.
“Really?” Arnval asked, looking right into Ayu's eyes.
Ayu smiled and nodded.
“Really. You aren't the only one who's been thinking about it you know. At first, I thought it might have been a malfunction, but when I saw you trembling, and when I looked into your eyes and saw how scared you were, I knew it wasn't as simple as a malfunction. Something really scared you, and if you say that you saw something in your head that you think may be memories, then I believe you” Ayu said, smiling.
“Ayu...” was all Arnval could get out at that moment.
“I know it's scary, but we aren't going to be able to solve anything tonight. And we definitely won't be able to solve this if we're both too exhausted in the morning” Ayu continued.
Arnval finally smiled and nodded back.
“You're right Ayu. I'll have an easier time thinking if I get some rest” she said.
“Right. We'll do our best to figure this out together. But for now, Why don't we get some sleep?” Ayu said, smiling and offering her hand out to Arnval again
Nodding her head, Arnval stepped in Ayu's hand again.
Ayu let Arnval down onto the bedside table and let her lay back in her charging cradle before returning the chair to it's position by her desk. Ayu then got back into her own bed, making herself comfortable. As she set her glasses down by Arnval's cradle, Ayu turned to face her.
“Do you feel okay now?” she asked.
Arnval nodded.
“Yes. Talking did help a lot. Thank you for staying up to keep me company Ayu” she said, smiling.
“You're welcome. I'm glad I could help” Ayu replied with a smile before yawning.
Letting out a yawn of her own, Arnval relaxed herself and closed her eyes.
“Goodnight Ayu” she said as she slipped into sleep mode.
“Goodnight Arnval. Sweet dreams” Ayu said before also falling asleep.
The next morning...
The digital display clock above Arnval's cradle read 9:29am for a few more seconds before changing to 9:30am. The clock then began to beep. Slowly opening her eyes, Arnval took a minute to stretch and rub the sleepiness from her eyes. Standing up, she stopped the clock alarm and looked out the window, smiling. It was a bright and sunny day with little to no clouds in the sky. She then turned her attention to Ayu, who was sound asleep.
“Ayu... It's time to get up” she said.
Ayu let out an irritated groan, but stirred and eventually woke up.
“I'm up...” she said sleepily before stretching.
“Good morning Ayu. It's a really beautiful day out today” Arnval said cheerfully as she held up Ayu's glasses.
“Thank you. And you're right. It is a really nice day out. It'll be a good day to take you out, that's for sure” Ayu said as she smiled and put on her glasses.
“We're going out today? Where to?” Arnval asked curiously.
“Well, first we need to stop by my friend Alice's shop, and then I was thinking I could show you around town a bit. You know, show you some of the neat stuff there is and where, as well as some nice scenic areas I know I think you might like” Ayu said, getting up and going to her dresser to fetch a change of clothes.
“That sounds like it'll be fun. What kind of shop does your friend Alice run?” Arnval asked.
“She runs a Shinki shop. Not as big as the Shinki center out in the city, but big enough to fit a few battle tables as well as tons of different Shinki parts, accessories, repair tools, as well as Shinkis” Ayu answered, looking back to Arnval.
“Is that the shop where you got the things you needed to fix me?” Arnval asked.
Ayu nodded.
“Yep. Alice was as worried about you as me and my mom were when I brought you in, so I told her that once I managed to finish the repairs on you that I'd bring you in so she can meet you. And while I did all the repairs on you, Alice took care of repairing your armor and equipment, so that should be ready for you by the time we get there” Ayu said.
“I'll need to thank her for her help then” Arnval said.
“She'd like that. I'm gonna go change real quick and wheel get ready for our day then” Ayu said, smiling.
Arnval smiled back and nodded back.
“Be back in two shakes, okay?” Ayu said.
“Okay” Arnval said as she watched her master head out of the room and down the hall to the bathroom.

Chapter 4 of my story, Rise of an Angel:). This chapter shows a bit of bonding between Ayu and Arnval. I actually based Ayu's statement about how looking at the moon and stars makes her feel off of how they make me feel. Looking at the moon and stars at night gives me a lot of peace at mind, and helps me clear my head when I need time to think. My bed in my room is actually by my window specifically because at around 2am each night, the moon is right outside my window and shines light on me:). I just love looking at the moon at night, so I thought I'd have Ayu and Arnval looking out at it in this chapter:). More to come in chapter 5^_^.
