Here, I'll show you some of the differences.
This her style from the latest movie set in 2000s: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=VpB4koxODlU#t=53s
(I hate that style)
This is her in "Muppets in Space", 1999 where she still has that straight down hair cut: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=R94eV8nxvrA#t=55s
THIS is her from the 80's with the "Great Muppet Caper" (1981): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vtj516_nYU4
There's a bit of curl, a bit of bounce - very 80's. Especially when she actually puts on the swim suit.
Later in the 80's she got one of those perms everyone was getting and her hair was super curly. I don't really like this style: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=03UYqH9YTpY#t=8s
This is one of her later hair designs in the 70's - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V_0gX4NfMsE
That one is VERY glamorous and very...Donna Summers or something you'd see in the show "Dallas" during the time. The ones before this point were barely styled at all.
So I'll show you that in this last link here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=sw2N0DVDx94#t=164s
So you see now what I mean by her hairstyles changing. She's always supposed to reflect certain tastes and styles. Even that earlier 70's style where it was barely styled reflects how performers and singers didn't style their hair very much. People like that "natural" look (like Gloria from "All in the Family"). Then she went towards glamor. She also had points where her hair was styled to fit a certain skit or time period but those are different. I'm pretty sure that I learned part of this from a documentary at some point and then I saw how it was playing out as I got older.

Okay, just one more link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ybg1BDuzjO8
I'm including this one because THAT'S the Miss Piggy I actually grew up with. It's the only Muppet movie we actually owned until I was like...14. So, besides Muppet Babies, that's really the only "modern" style I'd ever seen her in. Unless a movie of theirs was aired on tv I didn't see many other incarnations. Then the next contemporary-setting-movie was "Muppets in Space" and no one really liked it. I think it was the first modern incarnation after Jim Henson's death.
Anywho, that should give you a good overview of Miss Piggy Lee.
