Transmogrification and teleportation ... granting of wishes ... communicating via the Elfmind ... I had envisioned these as things not accomplishable by simple gramerye. Scrying and soothsaying are in a different category altogether, and the Voice of the Forest is a non-gramerye-related skill.
Actually Winterbough might get some valuable intel from the local trees.
Good point though, that using magic is like setting off a flare for people who know what to look for. Every spell you cast is a traceable signal, and the more you use, the easier it will be for them to triangulate your position / follow your trail. It's like Sauron only being able to see Frodo when he puts on the Ring.
