The mass is ENDED!!! Sort of a take on this;) http://www.furaffinity.net/view/8295930/
(Chuckles) No...a Catholic Church! With furs and humans. The latest edition to the BDH saga is now posted! http://www.furaffinity.net/view/10922663/
BDH Saga Fact! (there are more than just Skunks)
The Tribe has 14 distinct species: Mice, Buffalo, Deer, Rabbit, Squirrel, Otter, Wolf, Coyote, Fox, Bear, Cougar, Raccoon, Horse, and Skunk. There are important reasons why the Tribe does not include any winged or reptilian species, but at the moment, I'm the only one who knows that reason;) This is not to say other species won't be discovered later in the saga.

There's also more than one kind of skunk -- there's also spotted, hog-nosed and two or three others.
As an atheist, I rather hate seeing the intrusion of organized religion into any novel area. Christian skunks don't seem any sillier than skunks sprinkling wine over a brazier to the glory of Jupiter, or of skunks on a prayer matt, bowing to Mecca ... but it all seems preposterous to me.

Anne and Holly are Spotted Skunks and Chili is Striped (she is the center skunkette in this pic). The other species groups in the Tribe have similiar variations.
As a Believer and an Author, I would find it rather silly to ignore some of the most significant aspects of human history, human relations, and everything! The BDH saga is set in 1873 USA and keeps to most history. Everyone (whatever age they live in) is called on to make this decision themselves and making no decision is a decision in itself.
If I had matter transporters in my story, you might not find that preposterous, even though nobody believes they exist in the past or present and might only in the future. But religion in a story you have problems with, even though many believed in the past, present, and will in the future? I won't mention how farfetched anthro animals might be;)
If you'd like to continue this discussion on my posting of the pic and story, it is at http://www.furaffinity.net/view/10922663/
Otherwise, I hope you enjoy Dustmeats fine picture of Anne, Chili, Holly and their husband Joey receiving Holy Communion.

My own manimals (furries) differ. Citronella the skunk is more anthro than these 3 and is not a member of any church. She has a human foster brother, BUT the church refused to baptize let alone confirm her, as she is not human (even 2 or 3 genetic upgrades were given to her, by an unknown patrty. I would have worked this out had I continued the comic series.(work ended about 17 years ago.). In fact, in one scene in a nudist camp Chryalis the rabbit manimal ,unknowingly is bitten by a mosquito robo that is taking a blood sample -to transmit data to the secret lab to be analyzed for what possible genetic upgrades may be needed. These manimals have been referred to as - Bicentennials !
I trust you will understand the meaning of the word .
Whoever is doing all this, has technology far beyond anything other people have even imagined. But why ? As the series ended 17 years ago, I have not troubled to reason out any more.

My own Citronella is more anthro, but is not a member of any church. The manimals tend to have drifted into paganism, and may eventually form a separate nation, if prejudice and discrimination develop.
Called Bicentennials, they may develop their own architectures, dialects, etc. Lepii homes tend to be hobbitish. There may be spiral skyscrapers.... the human population may be decimated in future centuries, if not decades, making room for the burgeoning manimal populations. Some species may survive only as humanoids. Ruvians, mancoons, homunks, mephitians, canidians, felidians, meermen,
