While a most iconic phrase in Dexter, it's not a reference to the show. However, the emotional level is set on the same tier. The Dark Passenger can often represent a shadow self of you, be it your conscious, heavy matters in life, or an alternate personality. It's not always something evil, but rather the other side of your own coin.
Oh, I certainly understand that; and saw that in the image. I just meant where did you come across the phrase? It's one I really got taken with when I first saw it (within the novels, then the TV series), and I was curious whether it had seeped into the general consciousness. :)
