I don't normal do vent art. It's mainly because when I'm upset, depressed, or angry, the last thing on my mind is drawing my frustration. I'm not saying it isn't a constructive way of expressing one's self. I just don't do it much myself. I drew this little pic during this last round of requests when I had a person requesting a rather complex pic as a request. It couldn't get it too work but this person kept pushing me and being a nice guy I couldn't say no to this person. This was kind of way of expressing my frustration about how some people try to take advantage of my good will to do requests rather than getting a commission from me. I'm not a greedy person and I don't have an ego about my artwork but I get very tired of people avoiding the idea of commissioning me and waiting out for when I have requests open again. I'm not trying to sound ungrateful because I like drawing. It's part of who I am and I know not everyone can afford commission but It would be nice to get payed once and a while for my work since while I have some financial stability atm, I don't have a regular job and I feel my commission prices are reasonable for my particular art. If you are interested but concerned about payment, we can work something out like a different payment plan or something. Ok, this went on way longer than I meant it. Sorry, this was really more of vent description. Yeah.

Sorry to hear that, dude, but I think you'll always have this kind of people.
I think it's really best to learn to say "no". It has to stay something you can enjoy. Maybe to add a limit when requests are open. No more than a certain amount of people or background.
I think people who can't afford a commish will understand that. People who keep pushing you to do it are using you and will push you against the wall, until there's no way out. You just have to push back and say that person either has to pay or has to make that "request" more simple. If not, then tough luck for them. Not for you. It's not that you're losing any money and such people aren't even worth to be called a "friend".

I think we all experience this once and a while when we're artist...some people want this overly complex pictures and we can old do so much = =
I for one SUCK at complicated backgrounds and anything beyond 5 characters in a piece is a challenge. Chibi are the only exception to the rules,for obvious reasons. Sometimes people just got to realize we can only handle so much and sometimes need to simplify requests down a bit.
And I for one would probably have become frustrated with a complicated request and been all 'do it yourself',especially if they started to hassle me. I'm a nice person by nature but be rude or hassle me,I do NOT take kindly to that at all.
Anyway,it's always nice to have vent art once and a while Addy ^w^ And sounds like you really needed it here <3

Oh I understand where you're coming from when it comes to people making requests. I don't do them anymore because sometimes people take way too much advantage of me which in turn makes me more frustrated in not drawing what I want to draw. Instead I was drawing and getting nothing in return.
But about commissions - I wouldn't mind requesting a commission one day. I'd just need to think about it and honestly if you were interested I'd rather pay while at Otakon. ^^ I think it's easier for me to give my payment in person since I'm hesitant about doing online things. And besides - you wouldn't have to worry about fees or whatever and you'd be getting it directly. Besides - I would love to support fellow artists and friends. ^^ ...my only issue is - I am TERRIBLE when it comes to thinking up what I would want drawn... I'm way too shy sometimes with ideas. I have plenty of time though to think. I figured with Otakon coming up, that would be the perfect time to offer.
And don't worry about venting - I do that A LOT when it comes to my art. It's healthy in my opinion.

It's not entirely about people making requests. I don't mind doing them but it's when people make overly complicated pics like lots of tentacles and vagueness of characters positions that makes it difficult and infuriating.
As for a commission request from you, that would be great and an honor. I wouldn't mind an in-person payment. I look forward to seeing whatever ideas you come up with.
Again it's not that I don't vent. It's just something that I haven't done much of it in drawing form. Usually I just grumble and scream in frustration.

Oh trust me - I know where you're coming from. Like when my ex boyfriend asked me for mecha. I drew it and I HATED it because it was something so difficult for me to draw. (...now I draw Transformers. LOOK WHAT YOU DID HASBRO! D:< )
Benefit though of getting money in person for a commission is you wouldn't have to worry about paypal fees. This is why I actually like paying people upfront for things like that. XD I'll tell you what though - I'll think about what I would like (since like I said - I'm awkward when it comes to giving out art ideas.) and to make sure everything is in place, I'll write it up in a note for you with the money in the same envelope. That way you'll have the art idea written down instead of trying to remember it. ...that and I think writing is easier for me. Lol.
I think when I'm frustrated with things like that though, I just take a mini break by maybe playing video games. ...I seem to play better at them when I'm mad. ^__^;
