I've often wondered if you could do that. but I'm sure the cookie dough in ice creams is a different concoction than that of real cookie dough. I just dig some out so I can have a complete mouthful of cookie dough at the end.

Huh, I wonder if that stuff is actual cookie dough than can be baked into cookies instead of an artificial cookie dough tasting paste...
I fear there is only one way to find out.

They do sell edible cookie dough at the market in refridgerated buckets. and it tastes almost the same, only slightly less salty and more sweeter (my money is on the ice cream version doesn't use cooking chocolate and probably uses hfcs in place of sugar)

Cookie dough in icecream and meant for eating uses some sort of chemical to bond it together instead of eggs to avoid salmonella. I don't know how exactly that makes it different to bake but my friend says he's done it and the cookies were ok... I had pretty much the same reaction as spider there =|

I have a roommate who does this... never actually bakes it but has jars of cookie doh from ice cream in the freezer
