I'm not entirely sure what I'm doing with this one yet.
I've never seriously tried to do any artwork of myself, and I'm reminded why by this.
I have not nearly enough decisiveness over my own character's attributes.
I decided to try emulating how I did the piece for Markoh.
I find that a prop helps focus a piece.
Just as Markoh's sword set my foundation, I wanted a polearm for myself.
I haven't decided on the type or length though.
Typicaly I favor the glaive or Ransur, but the glaive-guisame struck me as potential for this pic.
I've played a decent bit of Ironclaw, and found that I favor that setting, expecialy where furry fantasy goes, and would like this image to fit for that setting.
Unfortunatly, Skunks in Ironclaw are from a rather primative marsh culture.
Fortunatly, Ironclaw is very cosmopolitan, where nearly any species can work for nearly any house.
Personally, I've always favored the Rinaldi.
The concept of that noble house and it's slow decline appeals to me, and I have a few ideas as to why.
So, I was thinking of basing what the character wears around the mounted Rinaldi Knight shown in the Rinaldi supplement for the first edition.
Then there are more personal decisions.
Like Hair.
I never decided how much extra length my character has on top.
On SL, he has a fair bit, but mostly because shortening it would be a pain.
IRL I'm bald, and I view my character as a personification of myself, so I typically think of his head fur being no longer than the rest, but I haven't made a decisive decision on that.
Build is another point.
I have a little extra weight on me, and in the spirit of keeping my character representing me, I was thinking of having him keep about however much I have at the time.
Given that I am a fan of fantasy, and some extra weight was attractive in the middle ages, I see that as rather fitting.
But...well...I suppose that in writing that, I came to a decision on that point, but I'd hardly consider myself decided.
The last bit that I always find tricky with skunks is the muzzle.
I'm never sure how to shape it.
It's not that distinct muzzle that dogs have, that specifically just out under the eyes.
Instead it's just an elongated face, similar to that of a rat.
I liked the way that it was portrayed in the race section of Ironclaw: Squaring the Circle,
but I haven't been able to draw that in any position other than profile without making the eyes look....incredibly inhuman.
This is as close to that shape as I can get while keeping the human aspect that I like.
Yet another aspect is Ears.
Most furries are portrayed with very large ears that are nearer to the top of the head.
Skunks, however, have very tiny ears that don't stand out much, and on a cartoon are tiny to the point of looking awkward.
This is the best shape I've gotten thus far...but even this looks kinda awkward.
Anyway, sorry for rambling on forever.
If you can any thoughts on the matters above, by all means, let me know. Any little nudge might help.
