It's actually just a smudgy gradient, but I guess it works as long as it creates an illusion of a sky.

Thanks! It's not too hard to shade things as long as you approximately know where the light comes from. It helps to think of all body parts as 3D objects. I often do a pretty sloppy job, but as long as things look halfway right the overall image is most likely convincing enough.

Thank you very much! This was a fairly quick colour job, but I'm rather pleased with it. The soft blurry filtering makes these kinds of pictures look pretty dreamlike. =)

The background was the quickest thing to do, because with Painter it's so easy to blend the colours.

I can well imagine that it takes a long time for you to colour your work because your designs are so detailed. Details are the worst for me... They make me wish I had six arms and a same amount of wacom tablets.

Thanks, it's basically just a coloured sketch, but I still think it came out pretty. ^_^

I've been working with Photoshop about three years, I think. I've been using Painter for maybe a bit over a year or so. Before that I tried Paint Shop Pro, but I was never any good at it. I never got into an art school (*sniffle*) and I never had a real tutor to help me out, so I've always just tried to find out how to do stuff by myself. u_u
