As I sketched this lion, I wanted to transform its head and make a sabertooth cat out of it. But the sketch got me somehow and I fell in love with it. So the only thing I could do was grabbing my pen and colour it.

Besides that, I always wanted to paint a lion with a black mane. It's a very small one like the indian lion has (Panthera leo persica). At the beginning, it was also meant to be a young lion but it looks too major already to be a teenager. ;)

So all I could do is just giving him a black short mane and a curious gaze.
I found the start quite difficult because again I couldn't decide what colours to give or rather what light proportion and fur colour. But i'm really pleased how it turned out in the end.
