I think you did a good job on the colors and lineart
the shading is strange but interesting as an alternative, doesn't look bad at all

If the shading is strange its mostly because i realy dont know HOW to shade, and it not helping that the only art program i have atm "a shareware paintshop pro" keeps screwing up by mysteriously adding "smudges" and changing pixels constantly with shades and colors I never put there while I'm drawing><.

it took me forever to figure out where to put the shading, but u did very good on it! =3
u sure u dont kno how to shade?? this looks almost like a 3-D, dat takes some very serious skill...

well since Its about my second attempt at ever shading I cant really be sure i know what im doing. I sure know i dont know how to use any of the art program features to shade so I ended up making "custom colors" and added most the coloring pixel by pixel "uhg" then filling in the larger areas with the flood tool.
Was trying to picture where the lighter areas might be but was kinda hard trying to mentally reverse the shading since i was trying to shade a Black furred Umbreon hehe.

alot of it especially around the paws looks like gradients... dat is pretty extreme to do pixel by pixel...

ya but oddly enu it was kinda relaxing though i know that kinda thing would become a lifelong project if i ever got good enu at basic outline sketching for my pics and was working on larger canvas higher detailed stuff
IDK if i should focus on getting better at basic outlines, learning to use media for color instead of just fill/pixel adding? or what i need to work on atm.
Biggest problem i have is mental visual block when i try to work JUST from my head, almost always have to have some kinda reference to glance at even if i modify it alot. but idk if thats even something i can fix or its something wrong in my head thats permanant.

u just gotta train yourself... 2 years ago i could not draw pikachu at all, much less color, shade, make perspective, pose, BG, etc... it takes alot of work and practice...
