When I got Forest's Shadow for 'only an apron' I chuckled a little.
...I think I need to google aprons next time it comes up on the list, though. I got lazy and did a sloppy job.
I still haven't got the hang of drawing Forest's Shadow. For this one, I used both my andrewsarchus reference pic and various pictures of cats sitting down. I should just do a bunch of full-body pictures of her sometime to try and nail down her proportions. I have been improving, at least. I'll try to take comfort in that.
Forest's Shadow is a supernatural creature who has been living in her forest for a millennia or few when the human tribes reach into her territory. She's sapient, but she's still a wild animal. Her story involves her befriending a young boy who lost his tribe and working together with him to form a new one. I'm hoping to explore the differences between being civilized and being tame, or being domesticated. A sort of tale of first contact and integration with the Other that I love to see in Sci-Fi.
'Forest's Shadow' is the short version of her name. The long version would be like a poem, and I haven't written it yet. I'd like to do more work first on the culture of the tribe who spent their summers into Forest's Shadow's forest before getting conquered; They're the ones who named her. I want her long name to be bloated with reverence and caution. They named her when she was a slippery darkness between the trees. When she was a spirit of flesh and death. When she was the shadow of the forest come alive. Before the tribe was gone and a new one rebuilt; Before she was of the tribe and the tribe was Her Blood.
Yeah, I get a little flowery when I talk about her. That's only going to get worse, I'm sure. I think she needs flowery, though. She is basically a god. ...Which is amusing at the moment; 'God' is the next item on the list.
