So, a couple of years ago, I met a young boy who was going through a rough time at a family gathering, and its the only time I've met him and his mum. They knew that I was doing drawing and I talked to the young guy about what he liked to draw. I could see a huge enthusiasm for drawing in him as I had had when I was younger. After a pleasant exchange with the boy and his mother, I want away...before returning to them and giving the boy a small doodle on a post-it note. The boy was so thankful for the gift and his mother gave me a look which was just filled with how much it meant to her as well. I may not be the best artist, but the fact I was good enough to inspire younger people after what had been a long struggle artwise was a joy.
Later I would find out that the father of this boy is not a particularly nice man, highly manipulative and not at all caring towards his wife and his mother. Which made it seem all the more important that this biy gets a chance to do what he wants to do, as I was lucky enough to always have support for what I do artistically, even now I am completely open about what I do for a living - life is best that way.
So you can imagine how even though I didn't know him or his mother very well, after all - all I had was that simple exchange and the post-it note - how hard it was to hear that the mother has passed away suddenly. Now the boy and his sister now have to live with this man who is incredibly controlling. Its such a sad situation.
If however I can do anything to help I will, and that is why I have sent the attached drawing to the kid in question - because if you have something you are passionate about, you should always help inspire those of the next generation who are most inspired by your passion as well. Perhaps the drawing will be torn up, perhaps hes moved on from art - but I hope the picture helps him to do exactly as it says - to FOLLOW HIS DREAMS and not let anyone stop him doing what he wants to do.

I think you did an awesome act for someone, and I congratulate you. Maybe you see the art and post-it note as something external, but your intentions on sending it, and the little happiness you made him feel earlier with his mother was priceless, and may be the things he just needed.
I hope that kid grows up to be an artist based off of
Thought explaining to him some of the mega shenanigans that Ben has gotten into.. might be something you hope he misses.
Oh and Lizz's friend, if you're reading this in 2030, I hope you have flying cars and Liverpool has finally won a title.

There are so many in this fandom who only write of themselves and their own troubles, who are only concerned with others in the fandom and not the 'mundanes', and who hide their interest as artists or as furries from others treating it as if it were something to be ashamed of.
Good for you for not being any of those, big lion. You rock.

I know of an extremely similar situation in which i'm not entirely unrelated myself, and I can only agree with what you did. Such things can have a much more important effect than one would believe. As for this man, I won't comment on that o.o" I'm glad to see you focus on "securing" the next generation and "building" the future instead of ruining your life trying to rebuild a past that no longer exists :V. Because many people do, sadly.
I still would expect no less from you :3.
