Since Varanis is just a descendant of the people who controlled such powerful machines ages ago, he has had to make himself proficient in the weaponry of the age he is in, so the answer would be yes. He prefers a simple long blade, usually keened or containing some sort of mercurial properties, but can use smaller arms as well.
This was the first thing drawn of my character not done by my hand, and the first piece to officially bring back Varanis in place of the misguided and half-assed attempt at being a Turian that I made when I created my profile. Dark days those were, and this was me coming into the light. More interesting than that is the erasing of history above, however self-inflicted for that user it was. I say no more of it in public. Was a mere trifle.
