I've been having this weird nostalgia for the Marvel classics lately.

That said... This is pretty fusking sweet, Excellent colors and I like your take on him, your style looks sweet and brings a freshness to a character thats become.. stupid.

Well, it's the original, I think, at least, the original from Marvel. It's not Beta-Ray Thor, though I might do one of him sometime.

Beta Ray was a cool idea, I liked the idea that you didn't have to be Human to weild the hammer, just a truely good and noble being.

There was a loophole from the beginning. It could only be wielded by one worthy pf the power, which by all accounts should have meant just the one.

I've always liked the Norse Gods. They didn't mess around with plagues and so forth when they were angry, they came down and started smashing heads.

And yes, Marvel has gotten completely ass-backwards.

I also dig the Norse Gods. They didn't fuck around with who was higher or any of that shit. They just brawled it out. Except Loki. What was up with him? He mothered (As in became female and gave birth to) a horse.

Marvel has gone straight to hell since the years when Liefeld and McFarlane ruled. The editors put the art on such a pedestal that they forgot writing was also necessary to tell a decent story and we get what we have now where mediocre writers kill Captain America, Spider-Man's marriage is broken up to reshape the entire world and every comics tells a quarter story with beautiful art that you don't give half a shit about.

Loki was one of the original Douche-bags, that's my theory.

By the way, I got the graphic novel Watchmen for Christmas, and it's an excellent example of fine art work, that also has an incredible (and mind fucking) story. Shame many comics now can't even manage a decent story.

And also that people keep basing movies off of Alan Moore comics. They never get it right.

Like The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen? Such a cool concept gone so horribly wrong. They even had Sean Connery, god dammit! And still, it was laughable.

Abso-firggin-lutely! V for Vendetta, while being a very good movie was still dumbed down from the original piece. He hated League of Extraordinary Gentlemen so much that he demanded that he be disassociated from it. He threatened DC Comics that he was going to pull League from their lineup if he ever got mentioned in association with a DC comics movie again. He was then sued with DC for League because when they "improved" on the original piece, they stole substantial portions of someone else's screenplay to do it. Moore got blamed because there were implications that he wrote the script for the movie.

I haven't followed any comics in at least 20 years or more, but I've definately heard from many people that Marvel's totally gone to shit. It's a shame. I've aways liked Thor, and I really dig your take on him: true to the original, but with some nice little changes here and there.
