This is a type of furry story that I always wanted to put together. It's about a couple close friends who undergo the Morphic Change. Unlike other teenagers who experience this change to some degree, these two teenagers truly see their lives turned upside down by their changes.

Hmm... good question. The best answer I have is that the people themselves do not have any active or recognized control over their changes. However, a bit of their inner subconscious has some control. While on the one hand the level of change is random, yet a bit of the person's inner core does have power over what they get.
From a writers/artists point a view, the character's change can reflect something inside them. But it can also seem random if it works for a character plot. I originally never thought much of it when I wrote this. However your question got me thinking and I hope that answers your question.
