days?? yikes! I thought the 2 hours it took me to do 'Muir's Eyes' (2.5 including taking the pics) was long. >,<

A typical commission, if I zap through it, start to finish is about 5 hours. That's jsut a character portrait with a simple background.
For a near-photorealism picture... I'd guess 15-20 hours of work.

And that's why I will never be this good. Just dont have the patience for it. Lol.

I've slightly improved on technique since then, though possibly not style! The thing is, I hand drew all the fur texture, which unfortunately doesn't show up!

There is no limit to pixel size on dA, so I post my full working size images there, and provide a link under the FA AUP limited 1280x1280 image. Any chance that you might do the same. I'd love to see her fur at the original image size that you created her.

I was actually asked if it was rendered using a Poser plugin once.

Interesting use of blending 3D renders with hand-drawn work. Normally, when the two are blended, there's some kind of IMMEDIATE perspective problem that just kinda ruins it or an inconsistency with the colours, but you've pulled it off nicely!

The wings drove me half nuts... I eventually got a picture of a heron's wing, I think it was.

Remember when Ecco commissioned this piece for SummerRose. Brought a real smile to my face, and still does. Only time one of my characters has ever been drawn, and.. well, it meant a lot to me back then and now. I still drop by the Emerald Tavern now and then... hard to believe it has been as long as it has.

One of the few presents that has ever brought tears to my eyes. *sends a cup of Vanilla Assam to the artist*
