Boy do I remember this fondly. About a year ago I decided to spend a weekend traveling around Beppu, a hot spring town in Oita prefecture. I decided to walk up to Kifune castle to get a panoramic view of the town. A very funny little two-story castle built in the 1950s full of interesting little items from every era from the feudal to the modern. The interesting attraction? They had a little alcove they kept a snake in! A snake! The castle may have been a recent construction, but you'd want to come for the little things.
