So I thought I was done with my album with the tracks I had in store... but today, I have been knocked off my hooves.
For those of you who have played, you may recognize the phrase this track is named for. This is the motto of the band "Musikus", that appears in the game Morenatsu.
Yes, the game is supposed to be a dating simulation; but by the time I had gotten to know Kouya, and found out what he was doing as a musician, and how many things had gone wrong... suffice to say that I skipped the sex scenes. It wasn't what I wanted to know about anymore; it felt superficial.
It's about keeping connections, no matter the distance... on being able to count on the people around you. As Keisuke says, the last word that didn't make it onto the dogtag was "Us".
In the end, as you are about to leave, Kouya gives you a matching dogtag, just like everyone in Musikus wears.
I.... I just couldn't not write this piece. I tried to take to heart the lesson that was taught; that music should be loved, and music that is loved resonates so much more with the people you are trying to reach. I think it even sounds a bit like a couple of the piano pieces in the game Morenatsu proper.
I'm not ashamed to say I was ready to cry, by the time the story ended. There were too many things that had direct lines to my own life. I left home, only I went far across the country. I threw away a career in finances to pursue an arguably dead profession.
I kind of want a dog tag for real, now... I don't want to forget this lesson. Kouya may not exist in the physical sense... but the lesson he taught me, right here, right now, couldn't be more real.
Here's to you, Kouya. To Musikus; May I never forget that -We are Forever With-.
