At last I've got this Sea Horsie complete. I know you're probably getting tired of seeing all the iterations of this fella...but this is the culmination of all the work and planning at last: a real painting.
I'm quite pleased with this one and there's a lot of complex ink work going on with this little dude.
Anyway, thanks for your patience in putting up with my multi-seahorse posts. ;)
I had to adjust the color on this particular photo because it was just so saturated and intense. I took the picture under florescent lights and that paint is highly reflective. Oooh the colors! Actually the background is a "purple" gradient...but my camera turns it blue every time. It looks much "cooler" with purple.

Hey dude, that came out awesome, that background really goes well with it and makes the seahorse pop out without overpowering it or taking your eyes away from it, I think that it was a good choice to go with the purple gradient as the background, it has a nice calm and relaxed look to it.
Thanks, gatorness! Yeah the glossy acrylic background really does go best with the cel paintings and that bit of green at the bottom makes everything work. Actually the paint and the colors look nearly luminescent with those too neutral colors playing off each other and of course they make that horsie shine out too! It looks SO much better in person too.
I'm going to enter this picture and my Tower-Tree painting in an upcoming show at our Arts Center here in town. I'm going to put some good prices on them too, since I really don't want 'em flying out the door unless someone really *has* to have one. :) I dreamin' I guess.
