A lot of scanning, a lot of meticulous handling of old, falling apart paper, a lot of cleanup and adjustments and airbrushing later - and I have my old FRP worldmap in something of a presentable case. This, of course, is the much reduced, 1280x version, so squintilating won't reveal all the details of my early manual mapmaking, but, well, nonetheless here you go.
The master of this is decent enough I can do regional maps from, I think, or at least start to reconstruct the whole thing via paint-overs and text for place names instead of my horrible ancient 'stylized' lettering. Even so, this map has a bit of nostalgia for me, conjuring up more than a decade of Rolemaster - and my eventual weaning off that system for a more bastardized home-brew system I now call Shearral's Tears.
At one time I'd hope to publish the ruleset, which is somewhat derivative of White Wolf's D10's up the wazoo system, mingled with Rolemaster's variety of spells, but streamlined for ease of play, with some fast and loose ways of making new player character races et al. I still have the file, more or less, as an unpolished, but still playable gaming system - which I still prefer to AD&D 2nd through 4th Edition, WoD or Rolemaster, but I think it might be too derivative in mechanics, for ever seeing print.
The gameworld's intended to be smallish, not dozens of continents jumbled together. Pavar is the continent as a whole, though most of the action/RP, adventures took place on western coast, where all the big warring citystates are - Zenthris, Inculos, Chalice, Delstinius, and Horvath.
As for furry - well, it was a heavy human/furry blend, with humans being the most populous, though the most prone to internal political instability.
Classic 'fantasy' races were replaced with furry analogues - Pine Martens were the 'wood elves', but with similarities to dryads, having their lifespan and health linked to long lived trees shortly after their coming of age ceremonies - Arborni, and so forth (D'narthi - Badgers = Dwarves, Esari - gilled and 'crested' white ermines = Sea Elves, etc.)
Minotaurs (more Tauren-like from the first imaginings, long before World of Warcraft - instead of the human with bull head), Miyen, and Jackals rounded out the other 'common' furry races that existed as moderate political powers, and Centaurs constituted one of the very few hybrid races. I think in a fit of odd bemusement, I stuck them on the isle of Hreen, making them the least practically placed bodytypes on the map - making giant horse-human hybrids have to also be predominantly sailors to have much contact with the rest of the world.
Anywho, expect a few more closeups and an attempt or two at redoing the city maps - I was quite proud of them when I inked them out - over a decade and a half ago. They're interesting, but they don't really convey the density of the citystates I'd envisioned, so the few that I'd done, with the exception of Parnamanathylaxis, will be redone digitally, hopefully with vast improvements in style.
Parnamanathylaxis may also get redone, but the visual map, if I can salvage it, is a interesting personal footnote in my development of this world, and how ambitious I once was in bringing this world to life, first for my players, then later, when I'd hoped to someday publish a workable FRP.
For elements of less squintiness, I actually trimmed several inches off of the original scan - its just empty, stained, aged, and torn edges mostly. Character, but it stands in the way of making out the still incredibly hard to read words.
Scale was never put on this, my first worldmap, but suffice it to say, the 'continent' is only about 2,000 miles long north to south, and 1000 miles wide at its widest. Humans are immigrants to this continent within the last thousand years or so, but a large number of factors, magic being the least of them, stymied technological progress, and the dangers and other natives in the interior stymied the general 'filling in' of all the land that humans tend to do in much shorter periods of time.
