Chapter Five

"Bobbin! You've got to do something!" Ake called, and the colt ran back to the control booth.

"Uh... I've got it! lets see..." He began flipping the switches and levers at random, bits of scenery and props appearing on the stage, and then vanishing before they'd have a chance to block off and squish someone.

"Wait!" cried Bat-Filly. "That's it, I've got an idea!" She darted in front of the last item that had come down from the ceiling, her wings flapping as she waited

"TAKE... THIS!" Trixie cried, the light bright enough that everyone had to cover their eyes at the brightness, reaching its pinnacle and then a solid stream of power and energy shot from her horn straight towards Bat-Filly...

Who sidestepped out of the way daintily so that the beam hit the mirror that she had been standing in front of and reflected, striking Trixie instead. The unicorn was enveloped in the light, sparkles and the colours of the rainbow illuminating the room, and this time everyone turned away as they could not look.

When the light dimmed, Trixie was no longer there, only a pair of toy windup chattering teeth with little feet, that let out a sound much like Trixie's laughter "HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA."

Bat-Filly, Bobbin, Ake and Rumor gathered around where Trixie had been, looking down at the toy. Ake glanced over at Rumor, "You know... that really is creepy." She nodded, and then hugged Bat-Filly and Bobbin.

"Are the two of you okay?" She asked worriedly, and they both nodded.

"That was cool." said Bobbin, as he lifted his face mask, revealing it was Trucks.

"That wasn't just cool. It was Awesome!" cried out Bat-Filly, as she danced back and forth. She peered at her flank, dancing around in circles as she tried to see it properly. "Have I got a bat cutey mark too? Have I? Have I? HaveIhaveIhaveI? I don't, do I?" She said despondently, then brightened up. "Oh well! Guess it means I get to try and be everything! Tomorrow... Wonder Filly!" said the filly, lifting her hood to reveal it was Gossip all along.

"The two... Three of you did wonderful." Ake corrected himself, as Secret Agent Colt Tumbleweed tugged at his suit jacket.

There was a sudden crash from the other side of the room. Everypony gasped as the doors leading out of the dance hall flung open revealling... Princess Shadowflare and her Amazonian guards. "Sorry that I'm late, everypony. You wouldn't believe what was happening in Paradise-" she stopped after she walked in, looking around at the festive aftereffects of Trixie's magic, and the captured Hyenas and finally the chattering teeth. "... what happened?" She wondered aloud, at which point everyone started talking together at once.

"We'll take care of this from here." Said the leader of the Amazonian ponies once the story had been told, as they rounded up the Hyenas, and took away both the Hyena doll and chattering teeth in special glass containers that the Princess magicked up.

"Will Trixie be okay?" Gossip asked Princess Shadowflare.

"Of course she will. She'll be a toy for a while, especially with how much magic she used, but then she'll be back to her usual self and hopefully have learnt an important lesson on being mean to ponies. I have to say that the three of you were very very brave." The three foals blushed at the praise, stammering in response as they bowed to her, turning as crimson as Ake and Rumor tended to be around each other. "I don't think we have to say which three foals deserve to win the costume competition considering that they managed to even trick Trixie Quinn!" There was cheers and shouts of agreement from around the room, as the Mayor came over and gave all three of them first place medals.

When the Princess came over to Ake and Rumor she smiled gently, "It is good to see you again, Rumor. Thank you once more for the dress, it is always the talk of Paradise and they're always hoping that you'll come visit them again soon."

The patchwork tailor blushed, curtsying lower still. "You're far too kind, Princess. It was just a simple design. I'm just glad that you are so happy with it."

"Sometimes an appreciation for what is simple can bring true happiness. You don't need to go halfway around the world..." The Princess glanced at Ake with a smile, her eyes twinkling. "... sometimes you can wait for halfway around the world to come to you."

This caused Ake to blush brighter and bow deeper still. "As for you..." the Princess smiled as she came over to him. "Thank you for caring for my subjects much as I care for them myself." She giggled softly, a light and vibrant sound. "I do believe that you have something for me however?"

Ake nodded, "Of course!" and ducked his head under his coat, opening the slimline saddlebags that he wore, and pulling out a copy of a book. "Fresh off the presses, before it goes onto shelves."

"Thank you. I'll look forward to reading it later." Her companion came forward, taking the book and stepping back again. "I can sense you have questions however."

"I do, Princess." He glanced towards the doorway the Amazonian guard had left through. "How is all of it possible?"

"How a character that you wrote, that someone else gave voice to, can turn up here today and know you, know things that no one else should know?" Ake nodded. "What do you know about Whisper Wings, Akeashar?"

"Its a land beyond the veil of dreams..."

"And it is a land where dreams can come true. Whether its being a Bat-Pony, a Bat-Filly, Bobbin, or a Secwet Agent Pony. Where there really is a Trixie..." the Princess smiled at both Akeashar and Rumor. "... and there is a One For Me, for a patchwork pony and a lonely writer." The two ponies looked at each other, blushing softly, their tails flicking and brushing against each other.

"Anyway..." said Princess Shadowflare, as she took in the sight of the Mayor, DJ, Berry, Cherry, Demerara, Sho, Hip Hop, Rockin, and every other pony in the village. "... isn't this meant to be a dance party? DJ!" she cried out majestically. "Play that funky music!"
