It doesn't really look like they're looking at each other, at least not in each other's eyes, which the scene implies. Unless the feline is blind, his eyes seem really spacey and not as afraid as we're led to believe. The big guy's actually look pretty much great, so it might just be the cat throwing off the connection.
I'd try pumping up the shine on the chain to help differentiate it from all the leather, or else the lower half is just going to be one big mess of black and grey midtones with cartoonish shine. Maybe apply a sort of scratched metal texture to it?

they have a point. A good way to make sure their eyes are lining up is to draw a straight, perfectly perpendicular line- the trajectory of their eyesight to see where it lines up and adjust the pupils accordingly until the lines line up. Currectly, Dom is staring at Nero's hairline and Nero's staring at his lower lip/chin area.
