Rabbit has been a re-occurring tonal creature for me lately. I've been doing a lot of art revolving around the moon and drunkard theme.
Here's another portable talisman, this one's made from a rabbit foot and leg bone, it's wrapped in leather. The foot was preserved from an animal who lived a unique life for an animal that was intended as food. I have a friend who breeds rabbits as both food and pets, who treats her living animals with utmost respect, dignity, and kindness.

I was just thinking about rabbit's feet the other day. At a recreational area there was a vending machine thing (like a gumball thing where you put a quarter in and turn the knob and it falls down the chamber to your hand) filled with all sorts of colored - natural and dyed - rabbit's feet. Back then I was all excited to get a rabbit's foot and thought nothing of it but now I see it as "Wow...that's a lot of feet in one place that people can just purchase for a mere quarter...so commercialized" But it was an awesome rabbit foot.
Anywhodles. The leg bone addition to this is fantastic!

Just goes to show you how much we actually USE from the food and fur industry.
It's one of those things where you have mixed feelings about (or at least I do)
On one hand, those parts that aren't used for meat or hide don't just end up in a landfill (which is QUITE rare in ANY industry, by-product is almost ALWAYS repurposed)
But on the other, did that many animals HAVE to be bred just to fill our commercial needs? It's nothing we can change as a society, I mean, not everyone can hunt, or buy meats from local farms.
Farming animals (not just for meat) is just a weird concept for me. I understand it's necessity... But I just hate the idea that something alive is only there to fulfill the needs of a 'superior' specie...
(blah blah, shut up with your twisted views, Yoik)
heh... Thank ya XD

I completely agree with that. I can see that what the farms are doing isn't harming the wild population but its still raising a life just to be taken. But then that can go into commercial livestock and agriculture!
(Taiga will shut up her views now too xD)
In my opinion, as long as it was done humanely, the animal lived a good life, and every single part is getting used. Then do what you're gonna do
