Armies of Alden
The Terran occupation of Lost Angels came to a bloody, desperate end on the ides of April, 1011, by the Aldenian calendar. It marked the beginning of very difficult times for the human colonists, but it brought a gracious end to the darkest chapter of Acirema's history.
In the end, encircled and with their backs to the sea, the Second Colonial Army had no choice but to fight on. Bombarded by day and set upon by raiders and fighter aircraft by night, they fought on, hoping futilely for reinforcements that never arrived.
35,000 human soldiers officially surrendered to the Acireman 7th Division, but over 200,000 had died in the spring campaign, pushing back against a reorganized Acireman military. They sold their lives dearly, inflicting nearly 350,000 casualties upon the humanimal foe.
In the end, it was persistence and drive that settled the battle. The Aciremans, in the two-cycle campaign to drive the human occupiers out of the west coast, were consistently outgunned and outclassed, subjected to orbital bombardment, murderous gunfire, and constant air attack. The humans proved formidable adversaries, but not invincible, and every hard-won victory emboldened the Aciremans more and more.
The City of Lost Angels, the administrative capitol of the Terran Colony and the place where the occupation first took root, was the ultimate goal of the Acireman Armed forces, but before a vicious street battle could break out, the commander of the Colonial Army ordered the withdrawal from the city and the evacuation of its human colonists. Though not fully understood by the Aldenians at the time, it marked a major change in the Colonial Army's tactics and mindset, a sudden and bewildering act of charity.
The Aciremans followed them closely, both sides inflicting terrible, vengeful casualties until at last the humans surrendered. The final act marked the end of major colonial operations in the northern hemisphere. But the fight was far from over, and the colonials would perservere for years, knowing full well that the price of failure would be the utter extinction of mankind.

Not quite... in the description it mentions that the Aciremans are squaring off with the Colonial Army. Of course, the Aciremans are comparatively lucky. Their enemy isn't as well armed and has something resembling a conscience, which can't be said for the conflict between Ursidania and the Hunters.
I'm not sure. I wouldn't think so. Bajer Blaquestrype, for one, smokes. Either he picked that up from the humans or it's a behavior familiar already to the humanimals. Either way, seeing the liberties that other people have taken with the characters, like digging up parents from the grave and making them have sex with their children and in-laws, I figured that a cigarette wouldn't be that big a stretch.
