Little Wooden Arctic Fox
Another fox painted on wood. I may have put a LITTLE too much gloss on this one.

I've been following you silently for awhile now, and I'm ashamed to say i didn't realize you did paintings/drawings on wood. I've been away for about 3 years though, so my excuse is that I had to wade through 2,000+ submissions, I didn't have much time to read artist comments. :P This is really cool, what gave you the idea to paint on wood, and what sort of paint do you use? It seems a lot like watercolour, do you water down acrylics?
I think the idea game originally from looking how cool
birds's work on wooden panels was. I get them from this place in Pittsburgh http://www.artistcraftsman.com/canv.....ng-panels.html I use lquitex soft-body acrylics because they are easy to water down like watercolors which is what I use on most of my work.

Wow, I thought you just bought wood locally or found it for free. I didn't realize you could buy boards for this sort of thing. Always cool to see different kinds of art supplies.
I'm curious... does the wood absorb the watery paint straight away, or is it something that has to sit for a bit to air dry? Also, do you sketch right onto the wood, or transfer the image from paper?
