So here's the Caseless LMG9A2, not much really to it, took a few cues from a Negev lmg and tossed them on. First time i've modeled a side mounted handle, was the most annoying thing in the world to try and get to where I liked it.
Since its caseless and not a brass casing round quite a bit of weight is removed from the platform allowing better manueverability and less strain on the shooter from having to lug a 10lb or more rifle and its ammo around the battlefield. The one thing I liked about the Negav that I tried to make where it could be done with my model is that the Negav can be fired from the hip with just one hand with no excessive recoil.
Its chambered in 7.62mmNato, cause I just can't hop on board 5.56mm rounds, dunno why I don't like 5.56mm rounds.

if i recall correctly, caseless uses sleeves that hol the round, powder and primer inside itself and when the primer is struck the round is fired. Its lighter than normal ammo in bulk, though past caseless rounds were usually suceptable to moisture and heat, often the powder getting wet making duds, or cooking off if it gets too hot, and in some cases being too fragile and the casing breaks destroying it. I believe newer caseless rounds use better materials in the casing to prevent these problems.
not really caseless ammo is incredibly impractical. the weight differential isn't very significant and the process overall is a overly complicated solution to an nonexistent problem.
and it is still very dangerous. there are still weapon manufacturers who think a caseless rifel will be the future battle rifle of the U.S military. However when we were working with some prototype ordinance it had to be kept in climate controlled case and never left in direct sunlight. so it wasn't ever really being considered. we scored it 1/10 just for it's impracticability.
