Two Bat-eared Foxes (Otocyon megalotis) photographed at the Kansas City zoo. Bat-eared foxes are really cool because they're teeth are adapted to eat insects. Though they will eat small birds, reptiles, and mammals on rare occasions, 80-90% of their diet consists solely of termites of the genus Hodotermes. More fun facts, the scientific name for the Bat-eared fox derived from several Greek words, Otus "ear" and cyon "Dog", Mega "large" and otus "ear". The large eared ear dog! More of my old stuff from DA that I wanted to bring to my more active account here on FA.
