Well, I've finally found a way to use MS paint to add color to my drawings that doesn't leave a margin of not-white around the lines!
Which on one hand means I can actually come that much closer to giving my drawings the coloring I imagine them in! yay!
Downside is that you will most likely see more of my mediocre art...
Oh right the drawing itself!
well One fun thing about Galactic Civilizations 2 is the ship designer, which can be a great source of inspiration for spaceships. this is one of my personal favorites.
Called a Helepolis class transport, this ship is technically designated as a troop transport but this thing is more than that! Essentially an entire forward base with a Alcubierre drive strapped to it. The ship can carry and house thousands of troops, has advanced communication and command centers, an airfield, robotics factories
that can fabricate anything from weapons and munitions, to vehicles and aircraft; while refineries on the ship's underside can process raw materials to supply the factories above (in transit debris and asteroids are drawn into these facilities to be refined en-route so a stockpile is already available).
When arriving at a destination, the Helepolis will fly down to the planet's surface, it will then partially bury itself (until the facility above is at ground level) at which point the pylons under each corner will drive themselves deeper into the ground to act as support and stabilize the structure above and act as a central shaft for mining resources. Above the ship becomes, for all practical purposes, a fortress; all it's turrets and armaments were geared to defend against ground and air assaults (additional base defense structures can be constructed for added defense against enemy forces). As well as a supply depot, air field, and command center all in one.
The ship's major drawback (besides cost) is that with all its weapons geared to fend off planetary attacks the Helepolis are utterly defenseless against even lightly armed star ships. Though when they are deployed in groups of 3-5 and flanked by escorts stopping an invasion is still easier said than done.
The one shown here looks like it's seen better days, perhaps abandoned for a time to reenter service yet again.

Please let me know if you do! In that case I think I'll give you a watch ^w^ I've been working on my own Science Fiction universe for the last 12 years now and I'm trying to release it as a novel series with the end goal of getting in on tv, and it always is interesting to me to see other people's ideas and universes! I really love how weathered the ship looks and your description on it was wonderful! I like how it digs into the ground and how its weapons are almost useless against other ships! I imagine a small Envoy having to be dispatched to escort it wherever it goes! Or it has to kinda sneak into a war torn area to set up troops or Orbital defenses!
