Gank Combat System: Extraneous Appendix
Animals
Every animal is different, and there sure are a lot of them. So many that any system attempting to classify them all would be flawed from the start and stupid. That includes Dungeons and Dragons and Science. Instead Gank simply provides a few basic rules through which any creature that a player could image can be easily approximated and brought to life. All living creatures will have 1 Integrity Point, and for every 50 additional pounds would likely have an additional point of Integrity. Normal creatures are not magical, so their Soul Ability Score is 0. Animal intelligence can vary greatly, but is rarely exceptional, so normal creatures have a Mind Ability Score between 1 and 5. Physical strength can vary even further, so consult the following chart to make your best estimation of Body Ability Scores:
Average Animal Body Ability Scores:
1 - Mouse
5 - Dog
10 - Wolf
20 - Lions, Tigers, and Bears
50 - Rhino
100 - Elephant
500 - Whale
Animals also have a great abundance of different attributes. Consult the Natural Attributes Guide to see what may be available for your creature of choice. An easy way to cheat is to consult the Species list if your animal is common, or close, enough to be listed there. Some animals will also have Common Attributes, like agility or intimidate, and may even have some Special Attributes. If your animal fits any of these features then you should take the time to progress the critter with however many Attributes and Skill Points you see fit.
The Gank Combat System is still in the earliest stages of testing, so a lot of this may change in the dead of any given night. Likewise, if you have suggestions for improving anything listed above, or want to add some of your own, please take the time to post a comment below. Reply to other comments to help refine your fellow buccaneer’s ideas. Gank doesn’t just encourage user input, it thrives on it. This system is open and designed to be whatever you all want, or need, it to be. But it can’t be that unless you make your voices heard.
