Neat comic you got going here. Just curious, you got any particular for blurring the backgrounds? Is that just Rez's way of tuning out the world?

It's how Rez focuses only on the things that are important, and to keep all focus on the characters themselves. He keeps a vague idea of his surroundings here, just in case anything important is happening around him.

I'm glad you actually asked, because if you pay attention to certain scenes later in the comic, you'll see that the background becomes more detailed if Rez becomes nervous / paranoid.
