Hold on. Lemme see now.
The movie series is meant to happen before there were cultures. As a proof, they form a community in the first movie. I gotta admit, the following movies were very toddler-material, but in their own, the dense childishness reminds me of a time before scientific names, when even adults were not clever enough to come up with words like 'rain' and 'comets'. As much as they are the so called cash-ins, they're also usually prone to happen when viewers and fans like characters and movies enough that they want to see them again, but doing something new.
I do have to admit, though, the plots generally resolve around fixing a hole somewhere or something. But hey, I liked these movies enough as a kid (Same for my friends) that we bought like, the first 7. They're some sort of tradition, and they're all family movies. If you don't enjoy them, because of that, then there is no problem I can see: you grew up and have out-grown the style.
Yes, I'm 29, and I still watch these movies. Hyp exists to me. He only appeared a very limited amount of times, but I don't deny his existence because I don't like the sequels.
