A fun story, but there's no way an agent like Muri would've signed him without seeing what he could do first. Ms. Beaubonique letting her sentimental side get the better of her? I know, it makes for good comedy! I'd love to see Alphose and Shane go one-on-one, on the court and in a bar! Broken teeth, blood and vomit ensues!
I like to say that good drama/comedy comes from putting together situations that wouldn't really happen. Exaggerations breed characterization. I'd also heavily doubt they'd pluck up some random skinhead from England even if he HAD been a promising high schooler five years ago, but there you have it.
IMO it made for a really good opening scene!
