"If the pillars ever held up anything, it's gone. Just the great cylinders standing against the sky, bare of ornament. It could have struck me as dull or oppressively overbearing; but instead the great things gave me a feeling of awed peace.
At the back of the furthest pillar was a small information stand, describing the temple and its mystic quicksand pit. This was easily the most creepy and serene place I had seen yet."
