Moth Trek: Tricorder
I was painting another one of the realistic moths and had put Star Trek ToS on in the background. Suddenly, this happened.

My favorite thing about this piece is the contrast. The bright, vivid moth colors, the more muted, gentle background off on an alien world, and the same muted (but different color) Plus the moth is so concentrated, probably typing furiously (wait, does one type on tricorders? I don't know how those things work) on his lil' device thing. Plus the colors seem so perfect even for JUST the moth, not counting the background. Bright blue shirt with orange and yellow markings, and then the brown to round it all off. Iunno why the brown is so perfect on the dude - maybe it just adds to the intensely furrowed look with his eyes? Either way, the seriousness of the moth in such an adorable piece only serves to make it even cuter. Kudos!
Thanks man. I have been trying to use color more effectively, and I'm glad it shows. I'm also doing my best to get the maximum expression mileage out of the simple moth faces.
I don't think one types on the original tricorders, but there was some manner of input. Our moth is getting some very serious atmosphere readouts!
