Because you keep cheating with your other hand, I don't think you can move the middle and little finger claws back with your fingers. You should use rubber bands inside to hold the claws open while you aren't gripping with them.

I can but the claws press into the slots. I'm thinking of changing ot the springs something stronger that will pull right
