This is one thing I hated about high school: that campus just HAD to be the home of the loudest fire alarms in the entire city! They made a long, continuous and LOUD buzzing noise (the school was built in 1969, so that is what they had.) It didn't help that the main control panel for the alarm system was a piece of junk prone to malfunctions and problems, and that some students would pull the fire alarm as a classic prank (they've been installing special "stopper" covers on the pull stations to prevent this from happening) and the alarm horns were at a dangerously high volume (I think around 100 decibels - that's enough to do damage to your ears!) I even seem to recall one teacher nearly had a heart attack over their fire alarm back in the late 1990s!
I seriously hope that school gets a new fire alarm system very soon, so no further generations have to suffer. Most new fire alarms are loud, but nowhere as loud as this one...

Those can be pretty loud, too. I know my old K-8 school has them in the modular building (the rest of the building mostly has Simplex 4051s on the old 4050-80 light plates.) Though to me, it seems as loud as they are, new fire alarms often can't compete with those older alarms in terms of louder volume!
