Ugliest aircraft ever designed yet nothing before or since has approached its ability to complete its missions and bring the pilot home alive.

And Congress in their infinite wisdom killed it.

I love the A-10, only plain i am aware of that they offset the wheel so they could fit a bigger gun, a much bigger gun

Late reply, but they actually built the plane around the gun. And does suck they're not using them. :(

Apparently they are bouncing back and forth. They want to get rid of it to bring in something newer that isn't single purpose like the A-10 is. But there have been a number of people pushing back to make them keep them since they are one of the less expensive air craft to maintain and the weaponry is cheaper. So it isn't gone yet.

They got rid of them for the 188th Fighter Wing around here in Ft. Smith, AR, the last plane left in June.
