Within a mere moment of Link's attack the dark prince grabbed at his wing and twisted the large white feathers into his fist which began to glow with fire.
The prince of light tore free swearing as feathers were lost in the process causing the missing patch to bleed furiously from where the deep quills were wrenched from his flesh.
Link ascended far above his foe creating as much distance between them as possible. He hovered awkwardly in the air as his one wing was now hindered by the loss of several flight feathers.
The white quills within the dark man’s hand became engulfed in flames as he glared up at the prince of light with a sly smirk. The prince of darkness taunted Link with a motion of his hand luring the young man into an attack, hoping to ignite the same spark of doubt-fueled aggression he saw that night in Termina. But the white winged prince held his position in the rising smoke, waiting for Dragmire to strike first.
Dragmire could see that unlike their last battle the prince’s eyes were filled with intense courage and focus, the fear of death and the fear of failure which haunted Link in their last battle had been conquered.
The idea behind Link's winged form is the Fierce Deity/Oni Mask reflects the form of a lost race; Majora had removed the angel half of the mask in hopes that the remaining pure demon half would consume Link's soul. (it is suspicious that he gave you this mask, there is also mention of the mask perhaps being as evil as Majora's) In my story the angel is returned to the mask and Link takes on the form of a Tenshioni with wings and blue eyes.
(as for why the mask is there on his belt... gonna have to read the alternate ending to learn about that complicated little plot twist)
I am a huge Zelda nut, I worked very hard to fit my fanfic into and continue the real story of Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask, and I am sure fans will appreciate some of the unique connections I make throughout the story.
